Steel load planning

Steel Load Planning for Packs, Bundles and Long Lengths

Steel is one of the hardest freight types to plan by hand: long lengths, heavy packs, strict height limits and restraint requirements. TRUXE plans steel loads layer by layer on semi-trailers and B-doubles, then prints a plan your loaders can follow.

Why steel needs its own planner

General box-packing tools treat every item as a carton. Steel packs are different: long lengths need full support along the deck, heavy packs belong low and over the right axle group, and layers have to be built so each pack sits on solid bearers. Getting it wrong means wasted trips or an unsafe load.

TRUXE includes a dedicated steel packing engine built with Australian steel distributors. It uses layered stacking rules, one height per bay, weight gates and vehicle-specific limits to produce plans that match how steel is actually loaded.

Steel planning features

  • Layered stacking of steel packs and bundles with support rules
  • Semi-trailers, open trays, containers and B-double A and B trailers
  • Weight and height limits per trailer, with heavy packs placed where they belong
  • Load restraint and lashing plan, plus a glut and dunnage plan
  • Import pick lists from Excel or a plain item list
  • Company product catalogue so pack dimensions are entered once
  • 3D view and printable load plan for every trailer

Set up for your business

Every steel business has its own pack sizes, vehicles and site rules. TRUXE sets up your catalogue and vehicle list during onboarding, so your team plans loads from the products they already ship. Steel packing is available on request.

Frequently asked questions

Can TRUXE plan steel on a B-double?

Yes. TRUXE plans the A and B trailers of a B-double separately, with each trailer's own length, width, height and weight limits, and can split a list across both trailers.

Does TRUXE produce a load restraint plan?

Yes. Every load gets a restraint and lashing plan and a glut and dunnage plan. Always verify the plan against your site rules and the vehicle's ratings before loading.

How do I get steel load planning set up?

Contact TRUXE to arrange onboarding. We load your pack dimensions and vehicles so your team can start planning straight away.
